1. My goals and intentions in this artwork were to learn how to work with charcoal and try to make the pumpkins pop off the page.
2. I accomplished these goals by trial and error of trying different strokes with the charcoal and erasing if I didn't like the result.
3. What surprised me the most about my experience with this drawing was how much different working with charcoal was than just using regular pencils.
4. The most difficult challenge I had to face was not accidentally erasing what I had drawn while working on other sections of the drawing.
5. I met that challenge by positioning myself in a different way and working in a way that I would touch the least amount of final product.
6. I experienced the shift to right brain artistic thinking when I was working on the bottom right pumpkin, I was able to see the pumpkin for what it was and not how I imagined it in my head.
7. I think my drawing really works in the bottom left pumpkin and the antler, because this is when I was using the right side of my brain and in my opinion what looks the best.
8. Something I have learned that I can bring into my next drawing is to add emphasis to the darker indents and light to the lightest part to dramatize each.
9. An artist in the class that I learned something from was Gabbi, because we did a similar composition and we bounced ideas off each other while helping each other through the process.
10. If I had a "do-over", I would do less pumpkins or change the composition, because I don't think it all flows together, and some of the pumpkins look more sloppily drawn then others.
11. I feel the best thing about my work is the contrast between the dark background and the light pumpkins, and how the reflection really makes the pumpkins stand out more.
